The city of Santiago is located in the western part of Panama, in the Pacific lowlands north of Puerto Mutis, its port on the Gulf of Montijo. One of the oldest settlements in Panama, the city of Santiago flourished during the colonial era, and many fine old Spanish style buildings remain.
